n60: Comexi Group acquired the Acom business unit
17/12/2010
On the 14th of June an agreement was announced between Comexi Group and ACOM which allowed Comexi Converting Solutions, an Italian subsidiary of Comexi Group, to offer its range of gravure presses together with the know-how and technology of ACOM. This arrangement also included the provision of technical assistance for installed machines.
We now have the pleasure to announce that Comexi Converting Solutions, as of December 15, 2010, completed the final acquisition of tangible and intangible assets of ACOM, Srl, "which has a technological line entirely synergistic with the Group's activity”, according to Manel Xifra, President of Comexi Group, who adds that “we strongly value the sales development of this line."
This business area of Comexi Group, led by Gian Vito Schiavi, will be based in Podenzano (Piacenza, Italy) and will rely on its over 50 years experience and knowledge in manufacturing, rotogravure presses and customer service.
In the context of this new activity in the supply of gravure presses, the Acom brand will be initially maintained, although eventually it will be fully integrated in the broader offer of Comexi Group.

n59: Comexi Group exceeds all expectations at K´2010 Show
16/11/2010
Under the theme “The Meeting Point of Sustainable Innovation”, Comexi was present once again at K Show, from 27th October to 3rd November. Our stand recorded more than 1500 visitors during eight days of intense face-to-face activity with customers from around the world.
Once again Comexi Group demonstrated the ability to organize and draw the industry’s attention, and closed important deals on flexo printing presses, laminators and slitters with customers from the Middle East, Latin America, South Africa, China, Europe, among others.
Mr. Manel Xifra, Chief Executive Officer of Comexi Group, explained “our goal has been achieved by far. Despite the economic crisis environment, we have been able to attract a large number of customers from around the world and close important sales. Moreover, Comexi brand image has been reinforced by our ability to offer innovative and profitable solutions. It is worth highlighting the incorporation of our new brand of gravure presses called Comexi Acom, which has been presented within our product range at K Show.”
Our value proposition is innovation with the aim of improving the efficiency of conversion processes and the development of environmentally sustainable processes.
Innovation on Efficiency
We exhibited as a new global concept our latest flexographic press, F4 FLEXOEfficiency® which involves a revolutionary concept in flexographic printing, dramatically improving efficiency. F4 FLEXOEfficiency® is a newly developed technology that includes, on the one hand, the tendency of the flexo market to short jobs; and on the other hand, the business expansion by facilitating the entry to the label market. The elimination of photo initiators through eCOMEXI® solutions which utilizes EB Flexo technology in high performance flexographic printing is another possibility offered by this product range.
F4 FLEXOEfficiency®, a new way of flexo printing, which has gained a wide acceptance in the market. In fact, 10 machines of this model have been sold after few months of its launch.
Our booth showcased live demonstrations of the new slitter-rewinder with double turret mechanism e-TURRET which was sold during the exhibition. The productivity of this type of product is always higher than in a conventional duplex slitter. It is mainly oriented to the overall improvement of efficiencies in a conversion process, in order to avoid the bottlenecks that occur in the cutting area, due to the high down-time of the conventional slitters.
Innovation on sustainability
The brand eCOMEXI® (www.ecomexi.com) includes many innovations related to the improvement of the environmental impact in the conversion processes such as flexography, laminating and slitting. The flexo printing process with Electron Beam inks is VOC free and allows a reduction of power consumption throughout our product range minimizing the emission of CO2 in the atmosphere.
